From the design to the personal bumper stickers and the pages that looked as if they were ripped right from his journals themselves – it was a piece of his heart. Upon reaching for the book, I hadn’t expected the creative elements added into it. Every aspect of this book screams Matthew McConaughey’s personality. ![]() This was a highly enjoyable and engaging memoir. McConaughey writes, “Sometimes which choice you make is not as important as MAKING a choice and committing to it.” STRUCTURE & THEME He shares the struggles and triumphs of following it in this memoir. The values instilled into his life by his parents lasted a lifetime – and kept his moral compass strong. Matthew looked up to him but had to prove himself – along with his brothers. We follow his life from childhood into adulthood into fatherhood.Īn impressionable symbol throughout his life was his father.
