5/29/2023 0 Comments All the Queen's Men by Chara Croft![]() I’m happy where I’m at, content with my life in New York City, and have no interest in living in London. The job offer from a rival finance firm would have been an automatic no for me, if it hadn’t come with a kinky carrot. And Jules? Jules is definitely not Daddy material. And third, because he’s trying to find me a Daddy. Second, because Jules is fabulous, and I most definitely am not. How do I know? First, because this is real life, not a romance novel. Secretly being in love with your best friend isn’t just dumb, it’s hopeless. ![]() ![]() That’s not just my way of sneaking in the chance to finally kiss his sweet lips before I find him the Daddy he needs. When your bestie is too shy to go after what he needs, the obvious answer it to drag him along as your fake boyfriend when you’re hired as entertainment at a swanky London hotel. ![]()

This new career turned out to be a near-perfect fit for Don, though, as he had always loved the theater. ![]() One evening, he was so engrossed in sketching people on the subway, he simply forgot it was sitting on the seat beside him. This shift was helped along, in no small part, by a rather heartbreaking incident: he lost his trumpet. Gradually, he eased into making a living sketching impressions of Broadway shows for The New York Times and The Herald Tribune. He managed to support himself throughout his schooling by playing his trumpet evenings, in nightclubs and at weddings. After graduating from high school, he ventured to New York City to study art under the tutelage of Joan Sloan and Harry Wickey at the Art Students' League. He practiced obsessively and eventually joined a California dance band. At an early age, he received a trumpet as a gift from his father. Don Freeman was born in San Diego, California, in 1908. ![]() 5/29/2023 0 Comments Traveling mercies book![]() In the interior silence that followed my understanding of this scene, I held my breath for as long as I could, sitting there under the fluorescent lights-and then I crossed over. After Abraham drew his sword, an angel intervened and told Abraham that he had successfully shown his devotion to God. Abraham answered that God would provide the lamb. As Abraham and Isaac walked to the mountaintop, Isaac asked where the lamb was. She read the story of Abraham, who was called upon to sacrifice a lamb. I’m not a big fan of the poor-me-I-had-a-lousy-childhood school of memoir writing that’s so popular today, so when Lamott began her book with declarations of her childhood search for parental love, approval, and acceptance, and with acknowledgement of an abortion and drug and alcohol abuse, I was skeptical. ![]() Traveling Mercies: Some Thoughts on Faith ![]() 5/29/2023 0 Comments Modern HERstory by Blair Imani![]() ![]() ![]() Authored by rising star activist Blair Imani, Modern HERstory tells the important stories of the leaders and movements that are changing the world right here and right now-and will inspire you to do the same. I felt like the story worked best when it was just the one Bob, and then through most of book one when it was just a few Bobs, and thus just a few stories, to keep track of. By the time the book jumped back to any given Bob and his story, I'd barely remember where it had left it last time, especially between books. As much as I loved all the different simultaneous plots in the first 3, it could get a little overwhelming and confusing. HOLY SHIT ITS ANOTHER BOBIVERSE BOOK!!! I'm reading through it rn (NO SPOILERS PLZ) and am absolutely loving it, it may just be my favorite one so far. But all of a sudden I saw Heavens River suggested to me on audible, I clicked on it and read the description and realized. ![]() For whatever reason I just sort of assumed that was it, it seemed like all the plot threads had been tied up and most series end after 3 books. Hello, so psyched to see this sub exists!!
